Fay’s Weekly Fayvorites

Last week was a rough week emotionally and physically. Last Monday, I worked out and tweeked my hip a little and decided to take the rest of the week off. I tried to do some light stuff and still, just not right. When I don’t do some sort of physical activity I can get pretty grumpy and under the weather, but combine that with family stress and it gets double funky.

At any rate, this week was about cheering myself up emotionally and physically and for me that often equates to small amounts of online retail therapy and youtube clips.

I was feeling incredibly munchy on day 1 of all of this so I went to a goodie website that one of my clients mentioned in passing when I’d mentioned that I need a one stop shop to make some personalized trail mix. She’d mentioned Nuts.com and I’d cringed at the prospect of large amounts of pr0nz and laughed at the name. But I went, I saw and I ordered way too many goodies. They’ve got quite a variety of goods and if you’re wanting to try a little somethin’ without totally committing to a pound of it there are samples as well. Pro-tip: the Cinnamon-sugar bagel chips are pretty awesome and the Berry Mix is too. NOMNOMNOMNOMNOM!

Day 2 was a day to just mope and be dorky so I pulled up Youtube and browsed around for some clips. I know Lady Gaga isn’t for everyone and she’s a Madonna knock off, a part of the Illuminati, blabhlabhlbahlbalbahIDONTCAREblah, but her song “Marry the Night” has always cheered me up. Here, enjoy her performance from The Grammy Nomination concert from last year. I also browsed my reader for blogs that interest me and found a humorous and mage-ucational post from @applecidermage in regards to the appropriate use of Time Warp.

Lastly, I’m a t-shirt and jeans kinda girl and while browsing around for some new nerdy threads I found a website called Sevenly. The basic premise of the company is selling t-shirts and hoodies to benefit a charity. Each week there is a new cause so you can pick and choose where your dollars are going and the designs I’ve seen posted look really awesome. Please note that not all of the money goes back to the charity, 7 dollars from each t-shirt sale but you can read about their mission here.

As for this week we’ve got just one in game holiday to focus on and I’m farming my third Swift Lovebird in an attempt to flip it in a few months. I’m a glutton for punishment.

20 Days of WoW Blogging – Your Favorite Outfit(s) and Whats In Your Bags

My bags and my outfits go hand-in-hand because I literally don’t throw anything away because I see some sort of use for most of it. There would be many nights that I couldn’t sleep that I’d farm old dungeons for the perfect dress to wear while sitting in Dalaran on my perch or to do the weekly raid and LOL at how I could still out dps people in some random set of greens or old tier that I’d equipped for the sole purpose of being fashionable or making a little extra gold.

I mean just look at how cluttered these things are? And this isn’t including void storage and the stuff that I shove into my guild bank or on my many alts. This is just Fayona’s stuff.

And now for the Fayshion show!

I can almost always be found in-game in some random outfit but these are the three that I love and currently rock the most. Far left what I refer to my “Waiting in Que” set in which I’m usually sitting in the middle of whatever major city I just happen to be in at the time or flying around doing Archaeology. Middle is the Vestments of the Summer set. Flamin’ hot and ready to go! And I may or may not have made a ton of gold dancing in this one day. Why? Dunno. But I’ll gladly accept any donations. Far right is my current transmog set of Mana-Sphere Shoulderguards, Robe of the Great Dark Beyond , and Cord of Belief with a Fanged Tentacle dagger. The outfit can be farmed in old Outlands dungeons and for someone that has the worst luck with drops, they were rather easy to attain. And the dagger is from the End Times heroic from that sneaky old Bishop Guy.

And with everything there are always rules with Fayshion. Number one, your hair must always be a Troll-hawk and dyed to match your outfit. Number two, whatever pet and/or mount that accompanies you must fit either the theme or color of your outfit.

NOW GO OUT THERE AND WERK IT IN THE NAME OF FAYSHION!

20 Days of WoW Blogging: Things You Miss Post Cataclysm & Your Favorite Spot

Days 16 and 17 I’m going to combine because I’ve been slacking on this and because I’ve got the same answer for both prompts. Both the thing and place I miss the most post-Cataclysm is Dalaran and it just so happens to be the spot I love the most.

In BC, I never really hung around in Shattrath, mostly because it literally at the computer I had at the time to shreds so Dalaran was my first taste at hanging around in a neutral city. I remember questing in Hillsbrad and seeing this huge hole in the ground with a glowing purple dome over it and thinking about how pretty it was. I’d run to the dome over and over again hoping that some silly glitch would let me into it to explore it. Of course, now its just a hole in the ground because the city of Dalaran got catapulted into the air during Wrath.

Dalaran to me was everything. I spent countless hours on the stairs waiting for groups to form, inspecting other toons, doing dailies and waiting for friends to log on. The architecture and colors still take my breath away and there are a number of little nooks and benches to hide away in. Plus there is cake there. Cake! And fruit if you’re all into health food in MMOs too. During in-game holidays there wasn’t a huge struggle to find that obscure racial and class combination. To find it? Sit in Dalaran. Need to port to another major city? Dalaran could do that for you too. Argent tournament grounds? Run to the flight path and hang a left. Post-shattering, it seems like everyone is so spread out and I find it very boring and uneventful.

My favorite spot in game is there as well. There is a little apartment with a balcony upstairs from the bar that I spent the majority of my Wrath days in. I remember after killing the Lich King for the first time some guildies and I grabbed all the cake, booze and firecrackers that we could and sat on the balcony getting WoW-wasted and shooting off rockets. Much of my days were spent sitting in that apartment and waiting out dps ques, groups to form or searching for the books to complete the quests to get the Kirin Tor Familiar, which I’m still not done with.

Outside of WoW my favorite place is a little area in La Jolla not too far from my Chiropractor’s office. Its also not too far from where they shot the latest Real World installment here in San Diego. A lot of the beachy type places here aren’t the place to go if you want some serenity and quiet time. This area isn’t very secluded but its on a pretty steep street that most people are too lazy to walk down. Once a week I’ll go here to just sit, ground myself and enjoy the sound of the waves before heading home or back into work.
