The new year brings about change for everyone. Well, at least a humble attempt at it. Whether it’s the old, “I’m gonna lose weight” resolve or just to be a better person in general, the first few months of the new year are for lack of better words, interesting. I’m not a huge fan of resolutions but one of my personal intentions is to blog more and be more social online and off.
So as the list goes, online will begin with an introduction.
I’m a 32 year-old, dark skinned, chickadee named Alyssa but most of my WoW peeps refer to me as Fay. I’m currently residing and native to San Diego, California and have been here pretty much all my life minus a four year stint in Eugene, Oregon to live out my basketball dreams at the University of Oregon. And yes, I’m tall. Very tall. See: 6’3″ I don’t really play much any more other than shooting around here and there but I still stay pretty active because its also my job as a Personal Trainer. I see you scratching your head! An ex-collegiate, personal training… nerd? I’ve been in doing the gym thing for 8 years now and while I love what I do, I’m ready for a change in that area as well. Ultimately, I’d like to end up in the video game industry as a Community Manager and I’m slowly worming my way there. Also worked quite a bit of retail part-time through the years to supplement the fact that California is really damn expensive and I like stuff and having a sense of monetary security.
I’m not very artistic, I can’t sing but I can shake my booty pretty well. If I was about a foot shorter I’d probably go back to the dance classes I took as a kid which made me not as awkward as my other Amazonian sisters. Its not that I’m old, its just a 70-something inch wing span is kinda hard to manage. Outside of Warcraft, I dabble in whatever games are looking pretty interesting on Steam and play Farmville via Facebook. If not doing that, I usually have my nose in a book. I took HUGE advantage of Borders going out of sale last summer and bought pretty much every novel I’d been anticipating reading. I’m currently reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton.
I love.. love.. love.. lovelovelovelovelove music. And most every genre as well. The Foo Fighter’s new album is currently rocking my world but I can go from Gangsta Rap and Erykah Badu to Jimi Hindrix to Taylor Swift in the blink of an eye. And yeah, I’ll sing all that mess at the top of my lungs in the shower and my car and not give two pennies what you think!
I try to dabble in baking here and there, but I try to eat Paleo as much as possible. Yep, I try to eat like a little cavegirl. Meat, fruits and nuts for me! Its difficult because I do have a sweet tooth on occasion and when those occasions rise, I take complete and total advantage of them. I can’t be super militant or a fan girl. Never been a fan of the idea of shoving what you believe down someone’s throat based on a trend or what have you. People are gonna do whatever they want to and I’d rather not waste my breath in convincing them otherwise But overall, eating this way makes my body run a little better and I don’t feel so lethargic.
I also like really cute stuff, gel pens, notebooks, graffiti art and collect urban art. See: Kidrobot. I have for years now and my old apartment had Dunny everywhere and I really wish I’d kept a picture of it because it was so.. me! So I’m warning wherever I’m employed this year as a Community Manager, you will see a crazy rabbit army in my workspace. And a few pieces of work that I’ve managed to hold onto between moves. You’ll love it, promise!
Other than that, I’m just a jeans and t-shirt kinda girl with a dash of sass and snark. I can also be a little impatient/stubborn and can NOT tolerate indecisive people which oftentimes leads me to doing stuff on my own. I’m working on the impatient bit but I don’t mind doing stuff by myself at all. There’s nothing stereotypically “SoCal” about me and I play video games. I don’t find myself particularly interesting but I have a flock of friends that loves me to death. And I love them too!
